CD's bed was my first major project

What father doesn't what his daughter to sleep on a princess's bed?  Mine took learning a few new skills, acquiring a couple of new tools and about a years work.  I built nightstands to go with it.  Everything was made of solid cherry.

Here's the project when it was complete.  It's a standard bed-bolt design with a canopy frame over head.  Watco danish oil provides the finish. These are the legs that my father helped Chris and I cut to taper.  This was the biggest challenge of the project - finding 12/4 cherry!

The nightstands were my first real drawer attempts.  They came out pretty good with my Leigh jig.  The pins are walnut and the sides of the drawer are maple.  The top is finished with rubbed out varnish and the rest with watco. These nightstand tops are ready to have their undersides relieved and then to be finished.  The Rock Hard Table Top varnish cures for 30 days before it's rubbed out.  That process goes wet from 120 to 2500 grit.

These are the frame members of the nightstands.  The sides, back and runners for the front. Here are the legs, all eight of them.
